Since my childhood I would await the festival fo Rakhi eagerly. It was so much fun to dress up in Indian ethnic clothes like lehangas and chudidar kurtas, wear my hair fancy with beautiful clips adorning and bangles and get my thali ready with tikka/kumkum, chawal, nariyal , sweets and a diya to do puja to my brothers and they would in turn gift an envelope of money – which all us girl cousins would take and run downstairs to the candy shop to buy chocolates!!!!!! The festival was fun I think more so for the various envelopes we received and that we could spend the money as we wished!
